Cycling Fever Hits As Tour De France Approaches – Are Your Facilities Prepared?

During the last week of the Tour De France in 2012, more than £21.13m was spent on bikes, services and bike racks in UK stores, say Visa. That was a 5.1% increase compared with the same week in 2011, and was a 6.4% increased compared with the previous week.

The commercial director at Visa Europe, Steve Perry said “Visa data shows that spending on bikes and associated products were significantly up demonstrating the impact that sporting success can have on the nation’s spending behaviour.”

The Bike Bug

We all remember the buzz felt in the run up to and during the 2012 Olympics, and how Bradley Wiggins win in that last week of the Tour De France 2012 made us feel like we were all cycling lovers, and a great many of us went out and jumped on the band wagon, digging out or old bikes or treating ourselves to new ones, as the Visa data proves!

So with the Spring fast approaching and the excited buzz for this year’s Tour De France already being felt, with the honour of having it run through Yorkshire feeling like almost as much of an honour as holding the London Olympics! Everyone is once again dusting off their helmets and cycling shorts, with New Year’s resolutions of getting fit this year still sounding in our ears.

That means that if you are a workplace or school, you are very likely to begin seeing an influx in the amount of people riding their bikes to and from your establishment, and this is only going to increase as the excitement surrounding Tour De France heightens and the weather picks up so bike racks and bike storage will be essential.

Are Your Facilities Prepared?

So the question you now need to consider is, are your facilities able to handle that influx? Do your current bike storage facilities get stretched to their limit on a normal day? Could there be a need to add additional bike racks or larger secure cycle storage to accommodate the increasing popularity of cycling?

We can help with that. With bike storage solutions to fit any budget and any available space, we can help you handle the increased number of cycles needing to be stored as well as finding the perfect storage solution to compliment your environment.

From traditional cycle shelters and bike racks, to stand alone hoops and innovative wall mounted vertical racks and lockers, we can provide attractive and secure storage for both indoor and outdoor environments.

If space is an issue, the innovative vertical storage options save 35-45% of the space needed for a standard horizontal storage option, so you can store more cycles in a smaller area.
